Smoked Salmon Gourmet Cheese Spread Recipe

When I worked at Laszlo's Gourmet Smoked Fish on Sunday's, I would make cheese spread for our regular customers. Many of you I'm told still ask about my cheese spread from time to time. Now you'll be able to make the same awesome spread at home, in your own kitchen.

This makes a wonderful gift, just remember it must be kept chilled. Your family and friends will think you are the best cook in the world, when you tell them you made it yourself.

Yield: 6 - 1/2 pound tubs

Ingredients:

  • 5 cups of Laslo's Gourmet Smoked Peppered Salmon
  • 2 pounds of Cream Cheese
  • 2 cups of Sour Cream
  • 1 tablespoon of Salt (may be reduced)
  • 1 tablespoon of Pepper (may be reduced)
  • 1 teaspoon of Tarragon
  • 1 tablespoon of horseradish
  • 1/2 cup of finely Chopped Red Onion
  • 1 tablespoon of Lemon Juice
  • 1 tablespoon of Powdered Garlic

In a large mixing bowl, mix cream cheese and sour cream until well blended. Add finely flaked smoked salmon. Blend together with remaining ingredients. Serve with your favorite crackers, this spread is especially good on Wheat Thins crackers.

This spread can be put in decorated plastic tubs or a ceramic crock to make a simply lovely housewarming gift, birthday present or a to say "thank you" to that special someone.

Variation: Add a little more smoked salmon or reduce the amount of sour cream and cream cheese in order to thicken the spread. Chill for one-hour. Drop by large mounds onto chopped walnuts, almonds or pecans and roll to form a scrumptious cheese ball. Wrap with plastic wrap, tie with a bow for a perfect holiday gift item.
